The China-ASEAN Free Trade Area was officially fully launched. The State Council issued Several Opinions on Accelerating the Implementation of the Strategy of Free Trade Zones on December 6, 2015.
March 14
The 3rd Session of the 11th NPC adopted the Decision on Amending the “Electoral Law of the People’s Republic of China for the National People’s Congress and Local People’s Congresses.” Thereafter, deputies to people’s congresses in rural and urban areas were elected nationwide according to the same population ratio.
April 1
The CPC Central Committee and the State Council formulated the National Medium- and Long-Term Talent Development Plan (2010–2020).
April 30
The opening ceremony of Expo 2010 Shanghai was held; the Expo closed on October 31. This was the first time China hosted a comprehensive international expo.
June 29
The mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits and the Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation signed the Framework Agreement on the cross-Straits Economic Cooperation in Chongqing.
July 8
The CPC Central Committee and the State Council issued the Outline of the National Medium- and Long-term Education Reform and Development Plan (2010–2020).
October 10
The State Council adopted the Decision on Accelerating the Fostering and Development of Strategic Emerging Industries.
December 21
The State Council issued the National Plan for the Development of Main Functional Areas, the first plan for developing territorial space nationwide since the founding of the PRC. The State Council issued the National Plan for the Development of Main Marine Functional Areas on August 1, 2015.
