The Central Red Army scale the snow-covered Jiajin Mountain and rendezvouses with the Fourth Front Red Army in Maogong, Sichuan. According to the situation after the rendezvous, the CPC Central Committee adopts the strategy of going north to establish the Sichuan-Shaanxi-Gansu Revolutionary Base. On September 9, Zhang Guotao refuses to carry out the strategy and orders the right column to go south. On September 12, the Political Bureau of the Central Committee holds an enlarged meeting and adopts a decision on Zhang Guotao’s mistakes. In October, Zhang Guotao, who opposes moving north and persistently moves south, sets up a separate Central Committee. The Fourth Front Red Army suffers serious losses after moving south. In June 1936, Zhang Guotao is forced to abolish that separate Central Committee.
