Editor's Note

The family is the essential cell of society, and its future and destiny are closely linked to those of its country and nation. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Comrade Xi Jinping has issued a series of profound expositions on strengthening family bonds, education, and traditions. These insightful discourses, characterized by their lofty vision and rich content, hold great significance for galvanizing all sectors of society to participate in cultivating family virtues, for making our country’s countless families a cornerstone of development, national progress, and social harmony, for weaving the dreams of individuals and families into those of our country and nation, and for pooling powerful strength for the great cause of building a modern socialist China in all respects and realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation. The purpose of this book is to facilitate officials and the general public in studying and better understanding Xi’s major statements on strengthening family bonds, education, and traditions.

Drawing from more than 60 important documents—including reports, speeches, remarks, notes, and replies—produced by Xi between November 15, 2012 and December 28, 2020, this volume brings together 107 passages divided into seven thematic sections. Some of these statements are being published for the first time.
