　　As the gigantic ship of the Chinese nation sails through the historical waves to the bank of revival, the whole world is wondering in what way the Chinese dream will unfold in the rapidly changing international situation and what China will bring to the world as it starts its rejuvenation.

　　“We will unswervingly follow the path of peaceful development and a win-win strategy of opening up.” By these words, President Xi Jinping reiterated to the world the Chinese concept of realizing a civilized revival and building a harmonious world. Adhering to peaceful development is the fundamental guarantee of the Chinese dream and our long-lasting strategic choice.

　　China is a peace-loving nation. In its history, one can find that navigator Zheng He’s seven voyages sowed the seed of friendship and the Silk Road witnessed win-win cooperation. The Chinese civilization has cultured kind, friendly and trustworthy people and the exchanges with the outside world have made the nation inclusive and eclectic. However, imperialist invasions and years of wars landed China in a grave situation, leaving the Chinese people unforgettable painful memories. Now as they are already on the way to national rejuvenation, what they fear most is turbulence and what they seek is stability and world peace.

　　Peace and development is the prerequisite of each other. In the village of the earth, the nations share the same fate. Without a peaceful environment, neither China nor other countries can have smooth development. Without development, no country can enjoy enduring peace. Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, we have been following an independent policy of peace to create a stable environment for its development. In the meantime, we seize the strategic period of peace and development to boost economy through win-win cooperation. By promoting development with peace and defend peace with development, China has broken the pattern that powerful countries will seek hegemony and offered another possibility to catch up.

　　To share with the world is an important feature of the Chinese dream. From “China’s entry into the WTO benefits China and the rest of the world” to “one world, one dream”, China has been pursuing positive interaction and win-win results as it integrates into world economy. Be opening the market, introducing technology and attracting foreign capital that bring about the leapfrog development over the past three decades or actively taking part in global economic governance to fight the Asian financial storm and the global financial crisis, we focus on complementing and cooperating with each other to turn the world’s opportunities into Chinese ones and vice versa. Now that we advocate dialogue and tolerance among different civilizations and promote different social systems and development patterns to learn from each other, the Chinese dream will further shine with glamour unique to the Chinese civilization on its road ahead.
