Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC, has made poverty eradication a top priority in the governance of the country, and in the drive to build a moderately prosperous society in all respects and realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation. He has offered a series of new ideas and thoughts, made new decisions, and created a new framework for poverty reduction, all of which have achieved outstanding results. This also represents a great contribution to the international poverty reduction effort.

To help readers both at home and abroad to understand Xi Jinping's theory and China's actions on poverty alleviation, and to facilitate the building of a moderately prosperous society and a Global Community of Shared Future, the Research Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee and the Office of the State Council Leading Group for Poverty Alleviation and Development have jointly compiled this work-Eradicating Poverty.

Divided into eight topics, this book is a collection of 242 excerpts from more than 60 speeches and writings by Xi Jinping dating from the period between November 2012 and June 2018, many of which are being published for the first time.
