Young people represent the future of our motherland, the hope of our nation, and indeed, the future and hope of our Party. Representing, winning over, and relying on these people people are key to our Party’s ongoing journey from one victory to another.

Since the 18th CPC National Congress, the Party Central Committee, with General Secretary Xi Jinping at its core, has deeply understood the trends of China’s youth movement in the New Era from a strategic perspective, in terms of ensure the continuity of the Party’s cause and the sustainable development of the Chinese nation. The Party has strengthened its leadership over work relating to young people, held the first CPC Central Committee’s conference on the Party’s work with social organizations in Party history, issued the first Youth Development Plan in the history of the People’s Republic of China, published the first work document for the Young Pioneers in the name of the Party Central Committee, initiated the reform of the Communist Youth League, and achieved historic progress in work relating to young people.

Xi Jinping’s series of important statements on the Party’s work relating to young people profoundly clarify the status, role, objectives, tasks, responsibilities, and practical requirements of this work. They provide insightful responses to critical strategic inquiries concerning our direction and overarching objectives in the New Era. These include pivotal questions such as the type of youth we should nurture and the methodologies to employ in their cultivation, what kind of Communist Youth League we should build, and how to build it. These statements elevate our Party’s understanding of the principles of work relating to young people to a new level, marking the direction and providing the fundamental principles for the Party’s work relating to young people in the New Era.

On the centenary of the Communist Youth League of China, to help officials and the public deeply study and implement Xi Jinping’s important statements on the Party’s work relating to young people, and to better unite, organize, and mobilize young people to strive for the realization of the Second Centenary Goal and the Chinese Dream of National Rejuvenation, we have compiled Xi Jinping’s related statements into this current volume.

This volume includes 60 manuscripts by Xi Jinping on the Party’s work relating to young people since the 18th CPC National Congress, some of which are being published here for the first time.
