Xi Jinping's Be a Good County Party Secretary Like Jiao Yulu is Published

Beijing, August 26, 2015 (Xinhua News Agency)—The book Be a Good County Party Secretary Like Jiao Yul by Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, edited by the Party Literature Research Office of the CPC Central Committee, has been recently published by the Central Party Literature Publishing House and is being distributed nationwide.

The book includes six speeches by Xi Jinping, such as those given at a seminar for county Party secretaries at the Central Party School and when meeting with outstanding county Party secretaries from across the country. These documents are being published for the first time.

Since the 18th CPC National Congress, Xi Jinping has placed great importance on the economic and social development of counties, county governance, and the leadership and organizational development at the county level. He has repeatedly explained how to be a good county Party secretary and how to strengthen and improve the Party's leadership at the county level. He pointed out that within our Party's organizational structure and the state governance structure, the county level is a crucial link that connects the higher and lower levels. It is a vital foundation for economic development, ensuring people's livelihoods, maintaining stability, and promoting long-term peace and stability in the country. It is also a basic training ground for officials to undertake work and succeed. County Party committees are the “frontline command” of governance for our Party, and the secretaries are the “commanders-in-chief,” serving as a key force in the Party's governance at the county level.

Xi Jinping emphasized that if you are a county Party secretary, be one like Jiao Yulu. To be a good county Party secretary, one must always be loyal to the Party, be of service to the people, be aware of responsibilities, and be strict with discipline. One should enhance their political awareness and be a pioneer of development, a close friend of the people, and a leader of the leading body. It is essential to unify the strengthening of the county and enriching the people, combine reform and development, connect urban and rural areas, and earnestly fight the tough battle of poverty alleviation and development.
