The speech states, “Treating each other as equals and seeking common ground while shelving differences, taking a results-oriented, innovative approach to mutually beneficial cooperation, and keeping in mind the world as a whole and developing ourselves to help others are what the BRICS spirit is all about. “A Stronger BRICS Partnership for Brighter Future” contains remarks made at the Plenary Session of the BRICS Xiamen Summit on September 4, 2017. According to the remarks, “BRICS cooperation has been on a splendid journey over the last decade. We should redouble our efforts, seek practical results in economic cooperation, strengthen the complementarity of our development strategies, work to make the international order more just and equitable, and promote people-to-people exchanges in order to extensively deepen the BRICS partnership, and usher in a second golden decade of BRICS cooperation.”

“Following a Path of Peaceful Development and Working to Build a Human Community With A Shared Future” is an excerpt from the political report made to the 19th CPC National Congress on October 18, 2017. The Congress made clear that major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics aims to foster a new type of international relations, build a human community with a shared future. It also makes persistent efforts to build such a community one of the 14 basic strategies for upholding and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics in the New Era. The report states, “The Communist Party of China strives for both the wellbeing of the Chinese people and human progress. China will continue to hold high the banner of peace, development, cooperation, and mutual benefit and uphold its fundamental foreign policy goal of preserving world peace and promoting common development. China remains firm in its commitment to strengthening friendship and cooperation with other countries on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, and to forging a new form of international relations featuring mutual respect, fair-ness, justice, and win-win cooperation. We call on the people of all countries to work together to build a global community of shared future, to build an open, inclusive, clean, and beautiful world that enjoys lasting peace, universal security, and common prosperity. China will continue to play its part as a major and responsible country, take an active part in reforming and developing the global governance system, and keep contributing Chinese wisdom and strength to global governance.”

The speech states, “As the term suggests, a human community with a shared future implies that the destiny and future of each and every nation and country are tied tightly together. “Strengthening the Centralized, Unified Leadership of the Party Central Committee over Diplomatic Work and Making New Advances in Major-Country Diplomacy with Chinese Characteristics” contains the main points of a speech delivered at the first meeting of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission on May 15, 2018.
