Reform and opening up is the lifeblood of contemporary China’s development and progress. They are a crucial instrument enabling our Party and people to stride forward in pace with the times, and they represent the indispensable pathway to uphold and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics. Since the 18th CPC National Congress, the Party Central Committee, with General Secretary Xi Jinping at its core, has faced the formidable and complex task of reform. It has set the direction and planned the strategy, comprehensive deepening reform with unprecedented determination and vigor. The reform has been fully deployed, achieving breakthroughs at multiple areas and making in-depth advancements. Significant progress has been made in the reform of key fields and crucial links, and the primary framework for reform in major domains has been essentially established. This has greatly aroused the enthusiasm of hundreds of millions of people, significantly spurred the development of social productivity, and substantially enhanced the vitality of the Party and the country.

Continuing to comprehensively deepen reform is a vital component of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. It holds immense guiding significance for adhering to and enhancing the socialist system with Chinese characteristics, continue to modernize the system and capabilities for governance, resolutely eliminating all outdated ideas and institutional defects, breaking through entrenched barriers of vested interests, embracing beneficial achievements of civilization, constructing a comprehensive, scientific, and effective institutional system, fully leveraging the superiority of our country’s socialist system, achieving the Two Centenary Goals, and realizing the Chinese Dream of National Rejuvenation.

To assist officials and the public in deeply studying Xi Jinping’s significant statements on comprehensively deepening reform, we have compiled Xi Jinping’s related statements into this current book.

This volume includes 72 manuscripts by Xi Jinping on comprehensively deepening reform since the 18th CPC National Congress, some of which are being published here for the first time.
