Since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC, has made poverty alleviation a top priority in the governance of the country, and in the drive to build a moderately prosperous society in all respects and realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation. He has offered a series of new ideas and thoughts, made new decisions, and created a new framework for poverty reduction, all of which have achieved outstanding results. This also represents a great contribution to the international poverty alleviation effort.
To help readers both at home and abroad to understand Xi Jinping’s theory and China’s actions on poverty alleviation, and to facilitate the building of a moderately prosperous society and a community of shared future for humanity, the Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee and the Office of the Leading Group for Poverty Alleviation and Development of the State Council have jointly compiled this current volume.
Divided into eight topics, this volume is a collection of 242 excerpts from more than 60 speeches and writings by Xi Jinping dating from the period between November 2012 and June 2018, many of which are being published here for the first time.
