Editor's Note

Pursuant to the resolution adopted at the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, and in order to maintain the Party’s advanced nature and purity, it is necessary to carry out intensive activities throughout the Party to study and practice its mass line, with a focus on serving the people and conducting oneself in a down-to-earth, honest, and upright manner.

The first phase of this initiative was conducted with diligence and depth, yielding significant interim results. The second phase commenced in January 2014, extending the campaign to organs at or below the provincial level, their affiliated institutions, and grassroots Party organizations.

To facilitate the effective implementation of this second phase, we have compiled Xi Jinping on Studying and Practicing the Party’s Mass Line, intended as a key reference for Party members and officials. The volume comprises 174 selected passages drawn from over 20 important documents—speeches, directives, and instructions—delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping between November 15, 2012, and March 18, 2014. Several of these passages are being made public for the first time.
