Since the 18th CPC National Congress, under the firm leadership of the CPC Central Committee with General Secretary Xi Jinping at its core, China’s foreign affairs have made historic advancements in the midst of an ever-changing international landscape. We have creatively implemented a major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics, weathered numerous challenges, won significant battles, accomplished substantial and complex tasks, and achieved historic successes.
General Secretary Xi Jinping, with a deep understanding of the major trends in China’s and the world’s development in the New Era, has introduced a series of significant theoretical and practical innovations in foreign affairs. These contributions have culminated in the formation of Xi Jinping’s diplomatic thinking. This thinking, as an essential part of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, provides crucial guidance for upholding the Party’s centralized, unified leadership over foreign affairs, coordinating domestic and international situations, serving national rejuvenation and promoting human progress, building a human community with a shared future, staunchly safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and development interests, actively participating in and leading the reform of global governance, cultivating a more comprehensive global partnership network, and striving to create a new landscape for a major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics.
To assist readers both domestically and internationally in studying and researching Xi Jinping’s diplomatic thinking, we have compiled this current volume.
This volume features content excerpted from over 190 key documents, including speeches, dialogues, reports, presentations, articles, and congratulatory letters by Xi Jinping from December 2012 to November 2019. It is divided into ten topics, encompassing a total of 504 statements, some of which are being published here for the first time.
