Finance is the lifeblood of China's economy and plays a pivotal role in advancing Chinese modernization. Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC held in 2012, the Party Central Committee, with General Secretary Xi Jinping at its core, has approached financial work with a strategic and holistic vision. The Party has reinforced its comprehensive oversight of financial affairs, promoted coordinated planning, and achieved significant progress in the development of China's financial sector.

Guided by the principles of the New Era, the CPC has actively pursued a path of financial development that aligns with China’s unique national context. This endeavor has deepened the understanding of socialist finance with Chinese characteristics and has fostered continuous innovation in financial theory, practice, and institutional frameworks. Through these efforts, a distinctly Chinese approach to financial development has steadily emerged.

General Secretary Xi Jinping has delivered a series of profound and influential discourses addressing key theoretical and practical issues in financial development. These statements are rich in substance, insightful in perspective, and have significantly advanced the Party's comprehension of the fundamental principles and developmental trajectory of financial work. They constitute a major theoretical contribution to the application of Marxist political economy in the financial domain and form the financial dimension of Xi Jinping's economic thinking.

These discourses serve as strategic guidance for steadfastly advancing financial development along a path suited to Chinese characteristics on the new journey in the New Era. To facilitate the study, understanding, and internalization of these important ideas by Party officials and the general public, we have compiled Xi Jinping on Financial Work.

This volume features a selection of 324 excerpts drawn from over 120 key documents authored by General Secretary Xi Jinping—including reports, speeches, statements, and addresses—delivered between November 2012 and February 2024. The book is organized into ten thematic sections. A number of these excerpts are being published for the first time.
